First time?
We understand that your first tattoo can seem a little intimidating – or maybe you’re just needing a little advice before you fully commit. Rest assured – we have done loads of first tattoos, and we’ve all been in your shoes and can remember ours.
There’s the age old questions – will it hurt? Will I be able to handle it? What do I need to do before? So here is just a quick and easy guide to getting you to and through your first tattoo.
Find some images you like on google/pinterest/instagram - you’re not looking to find your exact tattoo, just ideas you like - imagery, colours, styles and placements. We don’t replicate tattoos, but will use these as a starting point to design you up a rad, one of a kind tattoo.
We’ve been doing this a while - we know what can translate well to a tattoo, and what just needs to remain an inspirational poster for your bedroom wall. While it’s your tattoo, and we want you to have control over where and what it is, we have the knowledge to get the best outcome for you based on your idea. Trust in us, as many others have, and know we want the absolute best for you.
Make sure you’ve had a good nights sleep the night before - lay off the grog, and come showered and wearing appropriate clothing for the body part we will be tattooing.
Will it hurt? Yes - we’re not going to lie. But it is bearable. Like showering after sunburn - but with something cool to show off afterwards. We have music playing in store - but feel free to bring headphones along if you would like to zone out on your phone.
That’s all you really need to know about your first tattoo. We have an aftercare sheet in store for you to take away which will run you through how to take care of your fancy new tattoo, as well as having an aftercare we sell which we recommend for the best healing of your tattoo.
Our shop minimum is $180, which covers the cost of your time with the artist and brand new disposable and sterile instrument set up for you. You’re paying for our expertise and your health and safety. Most smaller-medium size pieces are quoted based on design, size and placement. Each artist works at a different pace, so this is why we quote this way.
You can bring a friend along, but they will have to wait in the waiting room, and aren’t able to come through to the sterile area to sit with you. Our waiting room isn’t large, so we ask you don’t bring a rugby team of people - we need space for our paying clients to chill. But don’t worry, there are plenty of bars and cafes nearby for your friend to wait for you.
We offer free consults Weds to Sat, so drop us a line if you would like to chat about your tattoo, and we’ll set up a time with the best artist for the job.
